In Pick Your Way, the Lee-Bauwens Gallery in Brussels brings together some fifteen artists of several generations and countries who work with thread, among them Ode Bertrand, Chun Kwang Young, Hinke Schreuders, Gisoo Kim and Erwan Mahéo.
The exhibition text, by Victor Hugo Riego, considers thread as a means of exploring thickness and depth: surfaces that hollow out, inside and outside that merge, geometric abstraction made sewn and palpable. It calls on Cézanne, Velázquez, Duchamp and Louise Bourgeois, for whom the reverse side tells the truth.
Margaux Derhy shows two hand embroideries on linen, Dans les bras d'Essaouira (2023) and Déjà magicienne (2024). The exhibition opened on 25 May 2024 and ran until 6 July.
