At the invitation of Valérie Tazi, Margaux Derhy spends six weeks in residence at Jaal Riad, in Marrakech. There she explores passementerie, its ribbons, buttons and cords, with a group of women from the residence, echoing the hand embroidery work carried out with her atelier in Massa.
The closing exhibition, curated by Achraf Remok, who accompanied her at every stage from research to installation, presents embroideries unfolding over forty-five metres, as well as very small drawings, sketches simply embroidered in places, a new format for the artist.
Opened on 8 February 2024 during the 1-54 fair, the exhibition paves the way for passementerie to enter her embroideries, in particular as another way of approaching landscape.
