During the 1-54 fair, the curator Achraf Remok brings together nine artists around textile at Izza, a riad and art space in the medina of Marrakech: Amina Agueznay, Amina Benbouchta, Safaa Erruas, Amine Asselman, Nassim Azarzar, Souki Belghiti, Claire Williams, Muhcine Ennou and Margaux Derhy. Line(s) of Desire foregrounds the tactility and malleability of materials.
Margaux Derhy presents Fibi, Lydia, et les autres (2024), a fifteen-metre vertical embroidery suspended in the patio: cotton and sabra thread hand-embroidered on linen gauze. On the pale veil, which merges with the white wall, emerges the elusive silhouette of a faceless woman in a bright blue dress.
Women are at the heart of the work, in the stories it tells as in its making, carried by the embroidery atelier in Massa. The hangings from the installation were later reinstalled in 2026 in the gardens of Jnane Rumi for The Garden of Encounters.
