Margaux Derhy's first exhibition in Morocco, D'une rive à l'autre is a two-person show with Ayoub Amrani, curated by Achraf Remok, at ArtyBox Gallery in Casablanca. The title could be extended by a question, "Where to begin again?", echoing her search for a reconnection with her Moroccan roots.
She presents a selection of recent embroideries around plural identity. The works on paper, embroidered with the sewing machine, were made in her Paris studio; the embroideries on fabric came into being in Massa, with the women of the village, gathered a few months earlier into a group of embroiderers new to contemporary embroidery. The central piece was embroidered in one month with ten of them.
Nourished by personal photographic archives, the exhibition pays tribute to the women of her family. The opening took place on 15 June 2023.
