With Vive la mariée ! Algérie, Maroc, Tunisie, the Institut du monde arabe devotes a major exhibition to the Maghrebi wedding, told from the point of view of the bride and the women around her. Some forty costumes and ornaments from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries are shown in dialogue with works by contemporary women artists, most of them from the Maghreb and its diasporas.
Margaux Derhy presents a group of works drawn from the archives of her father's family, photographed in Morocco in the 1960s. Lydia se marie begins with a tiny photograph of her grandmother; the two La couleur de l'amour bring into bloom wedding scenes that photography had left in black and white.
Commissioned for the exhibition and co-produced by the IMA, Quatre sœurs, Essaouira shows four young girls in ceremonial dress against a deep blue ground, in the moment before the ceremony. The faces are left bare; brocades, gold and silver threads, stained glass and tiles are embroidered stitch by stitch with the embroiderers of the Sidi R'bat atelier.
On 3 October 2026, she presented her works to the public alongside the artist Ghizlane Sahli.
