During the 1-54 Marrakech 2024 fair, Izza, a hotel and riad in the medina that houses a collection of more than three hundred contemporary works, hosts the group exhibition Ellipsis: Eloquence of Absence, at the invitation of the curator Achraf Remok.
Margaux Derhy exhibits alongside Amina Benbouchta and Déborah Benzaquen, among others. She presents a work especially close to her heart: a composition first painted in oil, then hand-embroidered with the women of her atelier, in which a female figure stands at the centre like a protector.
It is the first time she has managed to combine her original practice of oil painting with embroidery. Her embroideries here pay tribute to an enigmatic great-grandmother.
